Story Films feature documentary ‘Otto Baxter: Not a F***king Horror Story’ has been enjoying a multi-award winning run. Made over 6 years, the intimate film follows Otto Baxter, a 35 year old man with Down Syndrome, as he writes and directs his debut short film (The Puppet Asylum), a comedy horror musical set in Victorian London based on his own life experience. 

The documentary’s co-directors Peter Beard and Bruce Fletcher won the Best Factual Director category at the 2024 BAFTA Craft Awards. Here’s a clip of them accepting the award.

Composer Ed Harcourt was also nominated for his brilliant score. 

Otto Baxter himself won the Auteur of the Year award at the British Short Film Awards for his exhilarating debut, The Puppet Asylum.

At the 2024 RTS Awards, ‘Otto Baxter: Not a F***king Horror Story’ took the top prize for Best Single Documentary. 

The film is also nominated for a Banff Rookie Award. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in June 2024.
